First off, this is not what I had in mind as my first post! But, I allowed it to bother me enough mentally to where I wanted to write about it. So, here it goes.

What is snitching? And, why is it so unacceptable in the “black” community?! The Oxford dictionary has two definitions, 1) stealing and 2) inform on someone. According to the Urban dictionary, snitching is when you tell on someone to get yourself out of trouble. Why does it seem so drastically different? And, I put black in quotations, because it always seem like that’s where this topic is most relevant. But, I’m writing this because I was thinking about the rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was currently released from prison, and serving the remaining of his sentence on house arrest, due to the coronavirus pandemic. From what I understand. Now, he didn’t go in for snitching, but he supposedly snitched during trail, or whatever, to help his own case; Supposedly. I didn’t really follow all of that. But let’s get into this because it’s kind of puzzling to me. This will be real quick.

Now, let me be clear that the snitching part, or the definition of snitching, is not what’s puzzling to me. What’s puzzling is the hate about the snitching from people who are not involved in the situation! I get the “street code” or whatever, however if the situation doesn’t pertain to you, then why should it matter what someone else say or do. Me personally, I could care less. Or, is it couldn’t care less?! Whatever. If someone I know, or know of, is snitching or known for snitching, I wouldn’t deal with them. Point, blank period. You stay on your side and I’ll stay on mine. If I was ever to find out someone that I deal with are dealing with the so-called snitch, more than likely I wouldn’t deal with them either. I say more than likely, because it depends on the relationship. However, if I was to ever find out, or sense, that the person that I deal with was sharing MY business with the so-called snitch, I would no longer deal with that person as well. That seems pretty simple, right? Now, I get wanting to express your opinion, or thought, about the person. But, why continuously speak about the person? What is there to gain, or prove, from constantly talking about your strong dislike for snitches? You’ve already pretty much let everyone know where you stand from your first statement/comment. So why? Why not just say your piece one time and move on? I heard in the streets that talk is cheap. It’s just a bunch of noise. I don’t know.

Like I’ve said in my intro post, I’m all about positive vibes and good energy. All that there, is not good. It’s drama. I don’t want, or need, none of that in my life. But, I guess for those that want to continue to use their energy and time on negative energy/vibes, by all means, do ya thang! Whatever makes you happy. I just wanted to get that off my chest since so many people seemed pressed about this guy and situation. Well, that’s my two sense(cents). Let me know your thoughts about “snitching”. Oh, and one last thing, just know that a person’s continual display of hate makes “the snitch” more relevant. 🤷🏽‍♀️
